Flogging & Impact Weekend Intensive

Impact Intensives with Ember Solaris

Impact Intensives with Ember Solaris

Class One: Ready, Set, Hit! 4 hours

A Flogging and Impact Play Intensive with Ember Solaris: Saturday – 12pm to 4pm

In this immersive beginner-friendly intensive, you’ll learn the fundamentals of creating impact scenes. We’ll cover active and skilled bottoming for impact, biomechanics for Tops and bottoms, warm-up progression, communication and consent, scene planning and negotiation, and how to modulate sensation across different tools and techniques.

Participants will explore:

• The uses and themes of different impact scenes
• Finding partner alignment, negotiation, consent, and reading responses in real time
• Using rhythm, breath, and pacing to build connection
• Hands, paddles, floggers, and other lighter impact toys
• Hygiene, health, and wellness considerations for the care of your skin, body, tools, and more
• Capacity, aftercare, and wound care foundations

Through demonstrations and guided exercises, you’ll leave with the confidence to create scenes that are playful, sensual, or cathartic.Bring any impact toys you have, especially floggers (a few loaner toys will be available). No experience necessary. You do not need a partner to attend. Wear comfortable clothes you can move around in and bring a water bottle! We’re going to get a little hot. You’re welcome to take notes. Need an affordable toy recommendation for beginners? Sportsheets keeps a solid introductory line of impact toys.

Class Two: The Art of Impact! 2 hours

The Next Level with Ember Solaris – Saturday 7pm to 9pm

Move into artistry and sadomasochism. This next-level intensive explores the emotional, aesthetic, and psychological dimensions of impact play; how rhythm becomes language, and how pain, power, and pleasure can intertwine into deeply expressive scenes.

We’ll focus on transforming strikes into storytelling, building your personal “impact signature,” and expanding your creative toolkit across tools, intensities, and styles. We’ll discuss creating marks, reducing mark risk, building your risk profile, and skills relevant to adding finesse or heavier strikes to your scenes, with a bonus for Tops who are smaller than their bottoms, and adaptations for varied strength and fitness levels as well as disabilities.

In this intensive, we will explore:

• Risk profiling and scene building
• Modulating intensity and finding alignment between partners of different intensity spectrums
• More advanced communication and consent
• Risk spectrums of different toys and body parts
• Reducing the risk of accidental injuries to Top and bottom
• Marks; what they are like across various skin tones, increasing, decreasing, and caring for
• More advanced and artistic throws and techniques for impact
• Pain processing and transformation skills
• Capacity building and aftercare practices for longer scenes, cherry popping, more intense scenes, special circumstances, and more

This intensive combines demonstration, optional partner work (sometimes a pillow or a chair is a good substitute), and guided reflections or discussions to help you develop artistry, confidence, and connection.

Recommended for those with some prior impact experience or who have completed the beginner intensive. Please bring your impact toys if you have them! Wear comfy clothes, bring something to hydrate with. You’ll also want something to jot down notes with. You may also want to bring braces or KT tape if you have an existing joint issue. A partner is not required to attend this intensive. Though if you do wish to have someone to practice with, the presenter recommends finding one ahead of the class so that you can do your own vetting.

About the Educator

The author of “365 Days of Consent Culture Exercises for Kinksters” (https://a.co/d/aczmP0h), Ember Solaris (they/she) (FetLife: @xSolaris) is a Sadistic D-type leaning switch and social scientist who infuses her passion for research into every class she presents. Drawing from extensive training in emotions, trauma, addictive behaviors, and relationship dynamics, Ember bridges evidence-based practice with her Primal and Sadomasochistic identity—fueled by a fascination with the dark, pain, blood and the arcane question of what it means to be human.

A professional information sponge and infodumper, Ember’s classes combine depth, passion, ferocity, and ethical complexity. She collaborates with attendees to foster inclusive, intersectional learning environments. Ember carves spaces where participants can unearth their most authentic, messy selves. A companion for those seeking both intellectual rigor and carnal exploration, Ember thrives when exploring new frontiers in kink, always pushing the envelope a little further. As a result, Ember collaborates with their co-organizer Ms_Kitten_ to run the Let it Reign (FetLife: @Let_It_Reign) and Reign of Blood (FetLife: @Reign_of_Blood) platforms to provide quality, accessible kink education across experience levels, interests, and intensity preferences. Ember has taught across the country and beyond and regularly presents online. A disabled, queer, genderqueer nerd, they live in the gray spaces and hope to meet you there.

VOLUNTEERS

We LOVE volunteers! Join our team of community volunteers, and you will find new friends, a support system and a tight knit center of empowerment. Once you have obtained membership as above, please check out the volunteering section of The Autonomy Project website.

By volunteering with us you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on people’s lives, but you will also get perks such as discounted or free access to our events and classes, and most importantly, collaborative input in what we do here. Your ideas are important to us, and as a volunteer, we want you to feel like you’re part of our community: one that celebrates who you are and supports your journey.

HIGH POTENTIAL, NO PRESSURES

Our community thrives in a space where countless delightful interactions could happen, but none are obligated to occur. Think of it as “high possibility, low expectations.” Outside of our general requirements of respect, you are under no obligation to interact with anyone in any particular way. This makes our space ideal for new faces and seasoned community members alike.

HIGH POTENTIAL, NO PRESSURES

Our events aren’t the product of one person hosting a party for pay; they’re the result of a community coming together and creating something new. Everyone who attends is expected to co-create: money, time, energy, enthusiasm, work, intention, example, concern and/or awareness. Have ideas, games, art, music to share? Want to bring them to life with us?

A FOUNDATION OF TRUST

Our gatherings are magical because of trust. We fiercely protect each member’s privacy, encourage honest risk communication, and take diligent care of our shared environments. It’s our collective respect and integrity that fortify this safe space.

CLEAR AND PRESENT CONSENT

Upholding consent goes beyond preventing harm; it’s about affirming everyone’s freedom to fully and joyfully agree to their interactions. It’s through this affirmation that our spaces thrive with genuine, unreserved participation.

INCLUSION AND DIVERSITY

We’re committed to inclusivity. Our community is a tapestry of individuals from diverse racial, ethnic, and social backgrounds, including all gender identities and expressions. We encourage everyone to engage with empathy and curiosity, always asking rather than assuming someone’s identity or preferences.

Our space is and always will be wheelchair accessible, with multiple spaces for varying sensory needs.

PLEASE NOTE:

No refunds will be given on ticket purchases. Address is provided to confirmed ticket holders after purchase. Wicked Eden is located on the south side of Columbus, approximately 10 minutes from downtown, and is one block away from a COTA bus stop.
